01 / THE OBJECTIVE

Start with the business need.

An author and artist’s website has several jobs: introduce the person, explain the work, make publications accessible, and present visual art without distraction. The design objective was to give those different kinds of content a shared home—and make future additions less dependent on a developer.

02 / DESIGN APPROACH

Make the useful things clear.

The site uses an editorial layout with clear typography, generous space, and distinct routes into biography, the book, publications, and sculptures. The public-facing design stays focused on the work; the more practical content-management controls sit behind an owner login.

03 / PRACTICAL FEATURES

What makes it work.

Structured publications

Publications are managed as individual records with a title, citation, abstract, and associated link or PDF.

PDF reading and uploads

The owner can add publication files, and visitors can read supported PDFs in an inline viewer rather than relying only on downloads.

An owner-managed sculpture gallery

Image-upload tools make it possible to maintain the sculpture collection without hand-editing gallery markup.

A focused contact route

A dedicated contact page keeps inquiries separate from the reading and viewing experience.

04 / BEHIND THE SCENES

The right technical scope.

This rebuild combines a responsive PHP front end with database-backed content and an authenticated administration area. Repeatable information is stored as records instead of copied into page after page. The important distinction is that the owner manages the content while the layout remains consistent.

05 / THE OUTCOME

A more useful place to land.

The result is both a more cohesive public website and a more practical publishing workflow. New research and artwork can be added through owner tools, allowing the site to evolve alongside the work rather than becoming another static archive.

Project outcomes describe the website and its capabilities, not unverified traffic, revenue, or conversion gains.
